MISSION STATEMENT
The goals of Toolbox Travel are to build friendships between jewelers of diverse backgrounds and to share knowledge and resources within our global metalsmithing community.

THE PEOPLE
Matthieu Cheminée is a jeweler, teacher, author, and photographer who has been visiting West Africa and researching the jewelry trade there for almost 20 years. Tim McCreight is a jeweler, teacher, author, and publisher who has written and produced dozens of books and videos covering all aspects of modern metalsmithing. Both men were struck by the imbalance of resources affecting the talented and hardworking jewelers of West Africa. The Toolbox Initiative was formed as a way to assist the metalsmithing community in West Africa. 
Toolbox Travel and the Toolbox Initiative are linked philosophically but they are independent organizations that are structurally and financially separate. Contributions to the Toolbox Initiative are used only to deliver tools and materials that are freely donated to jewelers in West Africa. No funds from that organization are used in any way for Toolbox Travel.
